Following years of neglect this historic Category A listed building was sensitively restored through a series of conservation works using traditional methods and locally sourced materials to reinstate it to its original glory.
The additional of a new foyer with glass curtain wall, was designed to seamlessly blend and compliment the existing building. Full internal reconfiguration and refurbishment was also undertaken to provide flexible accommodation for lectures and seminars.
A rare example of the 17th century home, this project has allowed for one of Edinburgh’s oldest building to be preserved and the legacy of Adam Smith to be enjoyed by generations of academics and economists.
