The project transformed the former Burghead Parish Church into a contemporary 2,000sq ft Scotmid store, giving the historic building a renewed role within the surrounding community. At twice the size of the previous premises, the new store provides local residents with greater choice, improved services and a more spacious shopping environment.
The expanded sales area accommodates more than 2,000 products, with some ranges doubling in size. Customers now benefit from a wider selection of fresh and frozen foods, everyday essentials and locally sourced Scottish produce. The store also provides an enhance food-to-go range, convenient meal options and additional services, including an InPost parcel locker.
A central challenge of this project was adapting the former church to meet the requirements of a modern retail environment while preserving its distinctive character. Key architectural features, including the original arched entrance and stained glass-windows, were carefully retianed and incorporated into the completed store.
